FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SUMMARY:
All applicants who perceive they have financial need are eligible to be considered for a cost reduction. Our cost reduction decision making process will differ depending if you are applying for an in-person travel event or a virtual event. Generally, virtual events require the lower financial assistance measures of "requested need" or "reported need"; while in-person trip events may require the highest measure of "substantiated need." The normal admissions process is "need-blind" and is often completely independent of the cost reduction process. In other words, you will often receive your event acceptance notification generally before your cost reduction negotiations begin or conclude. You will be notified how to apply for a cost reduction during your acceptance process.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (FULL EXPLANATION)
Cost reductions for virtual learning events are determined by ability-to-pay measurements and is donation-based generally in practice. Therefore, Acceptees will only pay what they, their family or their Sponsor(s) can reasonably afford combined. This means, every Acceptee in need of a personal fee reduction will receive an award that can reasonably match, near or exceed any factually requested or reported cost reduction needed. In short, we accept or reject initially based on the applicants merit, fit and promise, not whether they can pay fully or not. You will be notified how to apply for a cost reduction during your acceptance process.
Cost reductions for direct in-person travel-learning events are determined by need-based measures not need-blind cost reductions. As such, our in-person event cost reductions will not be as steep on average as are our virtual events as in-person events have direct costs outside of our price-setting control. The event acceptance process is still need-blind, but cost reductions will be need-based and will have an negotiated "Offer-Counteroffer" structure. This means, once accepted, the Acceptee will be billed the full event amount. However, if the Acceptee or sponsor cannot afford the full bill, then they can put forward a lower payment Offer they can reasonably afford. Then, based on organizational resources at that time, CVC can choose to (A) accept the lower-Offer, or (B) make a final higher Counteroffer that is below the full price and nearer to Acceptee's lower Offer, or (C) Acceptee can be waitlisted to freeze their lower Offer to be accepted or denied at a later date. You will be notified how to apply for a cost reduction during your acceptance process.
Everyone in financial need should apply because no one will be rejected due to the inability to pay the full price.
